Amtrak to use buses for a passenger bridge on the City of New Orleans route due to heavy rains, flooding in Illinois, Kentucky, and Tennessee

(KFVS) – Because of the recent heavy rains and flooding in the Midwest and Mid-South, local conditions have prevented Amtrak from operating at its normal capacity.Website Insert Perfect Answer copy

For approximately seven days, beginning Tuesday, Dec. 29, Amtrak will be using an alternative method of transportation for travelers using the City of New Orleans train between the cities of Carbondale and New Orleans.

Passengers traveling south on the City of New Orleans from Chicago will transfer to bus accommodations at Carbondale before proceeding south to Memphis where they will re-board Amtrak.
