Arcadia Valley in Missouri prepares for coming Amtrak service

With Arcadia Valley residents awaiting construction to start on a loading platform at the Whistle Junction depot, a meeting sponsored by Our Town Tomorrow and the city of Arcadia was held last week at an Ironton church to inform the community about Amtrak passenger service that will commence once the Texas Eagle begins making stops there in the coming months.Website Insert Real Numbers copy

Approximately 100 people were present to hear from Our Town Tomorrow President Carol Kelsheimer, along with guest speakers Mary Beth Rettke, Washington Chamber of Commerce tourism director; Bill Burckhalter, Kirkwood Station Volunteer Program director; and Sandy Francis, Iron County Economic Partnership Development director.

“Every event we have is another exciting step toward the Amtrak stop being started from the Valley, Kelsheimer said. “The more people I talk to and the more excited everybody’s getting, it gets me more excited. It looks just like a snowball rolling.”
