Beech Grove: Skilled Workforce Prepares Equipment for Decades of New Service

Sometimes overlooked in discussions about the future of American passenger trains are the 550 jobs at the Beech Grove facility in Marion County, Indiana just southeast of Indianapolis.

In this video from the Indianapolis Star, we see Beech Grove’s skilled laborers and technicians rehabilitating a “Comet” series passenger coach, ordered in the 1960s, for decades more service by restoring it to better-than-new condition, adding modern technology to a sound carbody shell.
