NYC F train express plan gets an A

A civil war has erupted in Brooklyn over planned changes to F line subway service. This time the south deserves the victory.Website Insert Coach Business Class Food Service copy

The battleground stretches from Stillwell Ave., out by Coney Island, to Jay St. in Downtown Brooklyn — 19 stops that have been served by a sloooow local since 1987, when structural work took express tracks out of service.

Those tracks stretch from Church Ave. in mid-Brooklyn to Jay St., two stops from Manhattan. Now the Metropolitan Transportation Authority has proposed putting the express tracks back into use in a way that would bypass six stops.
