Political insider: Joe Schwarz says ‘honored’ to be on list of bad guys

The Detroit News comments on WKAR-TV’s most recent “Off The Record”:

Dr. Joe Schwarz was an unabashed political maverick during his 14 years in the state Senate from 1987 until voter-imposed term limits sent him looking for a new gig in 2002.

In 2004, he won a six-man Republican primary in Michigan’s 7th Congressional District, running as a moderate in a crowded field of conservatives, and went to Washington, D.C.

But in 2006 he got booted from Congress after one term in a nasty 2006 Republican primary with U.S. Rep. Tim Walberg… [and] now labels himself a political independent…
