Metro-North president Giulietti to retire

Metro-North President Joseph Giulietti, who took over the helm of one of the nation’s busiest commuter rails amid a series of derailments that killed or seriously injured passengers, announced Friday that he will retire at the end of August, The Journal News/lohud.com has learned.

Giulietti, a 46-year veteran of the railroads, took over Metro-North in February 2014, months after a Hudson Line train went off the rails near Spuyten-Duyvil when an engineer fell asleep at the controls of a speeding train. Four passengers were killed.
