Northern New England: Amtrak considers raising Downeaster fares

Riders on most Downeaster trains could see their fares go up this summer if planned increases are approved.

Most one-way fares will go up by only a dollar.

The Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority, which runs the line from Boston to Brunswick, Maine, for Amtrak, released its plan this week for increased fares. (There will be no fare increase for trips between cities in Maine.)
