August 3, 2015

A group of local residents and small business owners have teamed up to grow public support for All Aboard Florida, the proposed express passenger rail line linking South Florida and Orlando.

The “I’m All Aboard Neighborhood Coalition,” an extension of All Aboard Florida, announced this morning that it planned to rally in favor of the project, which plans to run 32 trains a day — 16 round trips — on the Florida East Coast Railway between Miami and Orlando.

The announcement comes just days before the Florida Development Finance Corporation is set to vote on All Aboard’s request to sell $1.75 billion in tax-exempt bonds to help pay for the private rail venture.  The FDFC meets Wednesday in Orlando, and dozens of South Florida residents are expected to make the three-hour trek to comment on the project.

In a new release, the coalition said it was “dedicated to educating and providing information to interested residents and be a public voice for the large majority of residents who support All Aboard Florida.”

The group has launched a website,

The group said its membership includes residents from across South Florida, including several business owners and community leaders from Palm Beach County.
