Unifor Local 103, which represents almost 200 shop employees, voted overwhelmingly to accept the deal reached Sunday morning.

Ratification votes were held from North Bay to James Bay Sunday and Monday, with 88 per cent of workers casting their ballots in favour of the deal.

The new contract provides for immediate increases in wages to the skilled trades followed by annual increases of two per cent on Jan. 1 in each of the next three years.

The contracts expire Dec. 31, 2018.

“The ratification results clearly demonstrate that the members fully trusted the elected bargaining committees to negotiate the best agreement on their behalf,” said Unifor Local 103 President Andy Mitchell.

Mitchell said the deal boosts wages, improves contract language and adds job protections.
