Our Voice: Expanded valley passenger rail a great idea

Riverside County officials are looking into the idea of boosting the Coachella Valley’s passenger rail connections with Los Angeles.

Wouldn’t that be great?

While many with roots in commuter rail-heavy, less-car friendly cities of the East Coast likely would welcome such a move as a return to a familiar, efficient way to get around, plenty of Southern California residents increasingly frustrated with lives spent in traffic jams will enthusiastically jump aboard as well…

According to the 2013 State Rail Plan, the population in the Los Angeles/Indio corridor is expected to increase by 5.8 million residents over the next 30 years.
