The Illinois passenger rail system is under financial siege – rising costs mandated by federal law are forcing state budget makers to take a hard look at how Illinois will proceed with its established train routes, all currently operated by Amtrak.

Nearly a decade ago, Corridor Capital offered a plan to the Illinois Department of Transportation to transform the Illinois passenger rail system to a public/private partnership with superior rolling stock, innovative marketing, consistently-excellent equipment maintenance and other features which, if implemented then, today Illinois would have no passenger rail budget problems.
