Train delayed after striking cow

TRACY — An Altamont Corridor Express train was recovering from delays of up to 20 minutes after hitting a cow Monday evening, authorities said.Website Insert Perfect Answer copy

The cow collision occurred shortly after 7 p.m. The crew of ACE train No. 8 assessed the train for damage and replaced a broken hose from spare parts already on board, ACE spokesman Steve Walker said.

The eastbound seven-car train carrying about 250 passengers apparently struck the cow after it wandered onto the tracks outside the Tracy station, Walker said.
